Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 27, 2026
Last updated: August 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information ItemShare LLC (“ItemShare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, why we use it, and when it may be shared. It applies to the ItemShare mobile app, website, and related services (together, the “Platform”).

ItemShare connects neighbors who want to borrow and lend household items. The information we collect supports that process, keeps accounts working, and helps protect users and the Platform.

1. Information You Give Us

Waitlist and website information. If you join the ItemShare waitlist, we collect your email address so we can confirm your signup and send launch, early-access, and other ItemShare updates. We also collect information you choose to send us through website contact links or support communications.

Account information. When you create or update an account, we may collect your name, email address, mobile phone number, password or other sign-in information, date of birth or age information, profile photograph, and optional profile details such as gender if you choose to provide them.

Location and neighborhood information. We may collect your address, ZIP code, neighborhood, approximate location, or device location so we can show relevant requests and offers nearby and help users understand how close they are to each other. If the app requests precise device location, your phone will ask for permission. We do not intend to display your precise home address publicly. You decide what exact pickup information to share in a private conversation.

Requests, offers, and lending activity. We collect the information you submit when requesting or offering an item, including item names, descriptions, photographs, requested dates, availability, pickup and return details, and the status or completion of a loan.

Messages and user content. We collect messages sent through ItemShare, profile information, item photographs, ratings, reviews, thank-you messages, safety reports, and other content you submit.

Support and dispute information. If you contact us or report a problem, we collect the information you provide, which may include descriptions of an incident, messages, photographs, or other evidence involving an item or user.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you use ItemShare, we may automatically receive:

  • your IP address;
  • device type, operating system, app version, language, and time zone;
  • login times, screens viewed, buttons or features used, and general app activity;
  • notification tokens used to send push notifications;
  • crash, error, security, and performance information; and
  • approximate location derived from an IP address.

We may also use cookies or similar technology on our website to keep it working, remember basic preferences, understand general usage, and protect security.

3. Device Permissions

Depending on the features you use, ItemShare may ask for permission to access:

  • your camera or photo library, so you can add a profile photograph or item photograph;
  • your location, so we can show nearby requests and offers; and
  • notifications, so we can send verification, message, request, pickup, return, and account updates.

You can change these permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work without them.

ItemShare does not access your contacts, microphone, or other device information unless a future feature clearly asks for permission. If our practices change, we will update this policy before using that information.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • manage the website waitlist and send launch, early-access, and ItemShare updates;
  • create, verify, secure, and maintain accounts;
  • show nearby requests and offers;
  • provide profiles, item posts, offers, messaging, ratings, and notifications;
  • help users arrange pickup and return;
  • remember the status and history of requests, offers, and completed loans;
  • answer support questions and review reports;
  • detect and respond to fraud, theft, harassment, unsafe activity, prohibited items, and violations of our Terms;
  • troubleshoot crashes, maintain security, and improve the Platform;
  • understand which features are being used;
  • send important account, safety, and service communications;
  • comply with law and valid legal requests; and
  • protect ItemShare, our users, and the public.

We may combine or remove identifying details from information so it can be used for general statistics and product improvement without reasonably identifying a particular person.

5. What Other Users Can See

Other users may see information needed for the community and lending process, including your profile name, profile photograph, approximate neighborhood or distance, rating, reviews, requests, offers, and item photographs.

The people you message can see the messages and pickup or return details you send them. Do not put information in your profile, posts, or messages that you do not want the intended recipients to see.

ItemShare does not intend to publicly display your precise home address, email address, phone number, date of birth, password, or private messages. Waitlist email addresses are not shown to other users.

6. When We Share Information

With the users you choose. We share profile, item, request, offer, message, and coordination information as needed for ItemShare’s features and as directed by your actions.

With companies that help operate ItemShare. We use service providers to run the Platform. These include Amazon Web Services for app hosting and infrastructure, Twilio for phone verification or communications, Apple and Google for app distribution, device services, and notifications, Brevo for waitlist management and email delivery, and website-hosting, security, and database providers that deliver the ItemShare website and store waitlist signups. These providers receive information needed to perform their services and handle it under their own terms and our agreements with them.

For safety or legal reasons. We may share information when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, theft, threats, injury, prohibited items, or unsafe conduct; respond to an emergency; protect a person or the Platform; enforce our Terms; comply with law, a court order, or another valid legal request; or establish or defend a legal claim.

If ItemShare’s business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, or similar business transaction. Any new owner would remain responsible for handling personal information under applicable law.

With your permission. We may share information when you ask us to or clearly consent.

7. Advertising and Selling Information

ItemShare does not currently sell personal information or share it with third parties for behavioral advertising. The current Platform does not contain third-party behavioral advertising.

If ItemShare introduces advertising or a new analytics provider in the future, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law before using information in a materially different way.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep waitlist email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer reasonably needed for the disclosed purpose. We keep account information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to operate ItemShare, protect safety and security, prevent fraud and repeat abuse, resolve reports or disputes, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.

When you delete your account, we will delete or remove identifying details from information connected to the account, subject to limited exceptions. For example:

  • another user may keep messages that you sent to them;
  • we may keep records needed for safety, fraud prevention, an unresolved report, or legal compliance;
  • we may keep a limited record of a serious violation to prevent someone from avoiding a ban; and
  • backup copies may remain for a limited time until they are deleted through the normal backup process.

We do not keep personal information indefinitely when it is no longer reasonably needed.

9. Your Choices

You may unsubscribe from launch or marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe method in the email or by contacting support@itemshareapp.com. You may also ask us to delete your waitlist email address.

You can update certain profile and account information in the app. You can change camera, photo, location, and notification permissions through your device settings.

You may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information by using the account options available in the app or emailing support@itemshareapp.com. We may need to verify that the request came from the account owner.

To delete your account, use the account-deletion option in the app’s settings. If you cannot access the app, contact us. Uninstalling the app by itself does not delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, such as requesting a copy of your information or appealing a denied privacy request. You can submit a request by emailing us with the subject “Privacy Request.” We will respond as required by applicable law.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no app, database, or method of transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Protect your password and be thoughtful about the information you share in profiles, posts, and messages. Contact support@itemshareapp.com promptly if you believe someone accessed your account without permission.

11. Users Under 18

ItemShare is only for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly allow a person under 18 to maintain an account. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

12. Processing in the United States

ItemShare is based in the United States, and information may be stored and processed in the United States.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when ItemShare’s features or data practices change. We will post the new version and update the date at the top. If a change is important, we will provide additional notice or request consent where required.

14. SMS Text Messaging

When you choose to verify your phone number, you enter your mobile number in the ItemShare app and tap "Send Code" to request a one-time verification code by SMS. By doing so, you consent to receive that text message.

Message frequency. SMS messages are transactional and are sent only when you request them. You will typically receive one message each time you request a verification code. We do not send marketing, promotional, or recurring text messages by SMS.

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

We do not share your mobile phone number or your SMS opt-in consent with any third party for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile number is shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) solely to send the verification code you requested.

15. Contact Us

For help, contact support@itemshareapp.com. Because verification codes are one-time messages sent only at your request, no ongoing subscription is created.
